Community Involvement & Volunteering
Get involved to help keep the Hall happening! Shroton Village Hall runs on local love, elbow grease, and a good dose of community spirit, and there are loads of ways you can get stuck in.
Lend a Hand (or Two)
Whether you’re an artist with a paintbrush, a star at making tea, or just fancy putting up bunting and having a laugh, we’d love your help. Volunteers are the beating heart of our Hall—running events, decorating the place, weeding the patio, running the bar, washing up, and occasionally dancing in fancy dress (optional, but encouraged).
Join the committee
We’re always keen to welcome new faces and fresh ideas, whether you’re a spreadsheet whizz, a cake baker, a dab hand at putting up bunting, or just enthusiastic about village life. The team meets once a month to keep the Hall ticking over and to plan the weird and wonderful things we get up to. If you like a bit of fun with your governance, then we’re the management committee for you!
What’s On the To-Do List?
Right now, our big project is refurbishing the toilets (cue an excited cheer from the regulars). They’ve served us loyally, but it’s time for a glow-up. The new facilities will be warmer, brighter, more accessible and, dare we say it, almost pleasant to visit.
Longer term, we’re aiming to make the whole hall even more versatile and inviting with a whole host of improvements.
Help Us Help the Hall
If you’d rather support from the sidelines (or the sofa), here are a few ways to get involved:
- Make a donation: Every penny goes towards improving the hall and putting on events that make village life shine.
- Sponsor an event: From cream teas to plant sales, we welcome local businesses or generous folk to support our fundraising fun.
- Help us access grants: If you’re handy with paperwork or know your way around funding applications, we’d love your help!
You can also contribute to our Spend a Penny Fund—yes, it’s exactly what it sounds like. Pop some change into the pot at any hall event and know your pennies are helping make our loos less medieval.

Meetings and minutes
Yes, we’re the ones with notebooks and big plans! The committee meets on the first Wednesday of every month, not just to tick the trustee boxes (though we do that too), but to share ideas, hatch plans for future events, and generally keep the good stuff happening at the heart of the village.
We take our responsibilities seriously, but never ourselves, so there’s always a good dose of laughter alongside the agenda. From cream teas to sausage sizzles, it all starts here.
Curious to know what goes on behind the scenes (or just a little nosy)? You’re very welcome to have a read of our meeting minutes below.

Policies
This section contains the essential documents that guide how we manage and operate Shroton Village Hall. From safeguarding and health & safety to terms of hire and privacy, these policies help ensure the hall is safe, fair, and welcoming for everyone.
We know it’s not the most exciting read, but it’s all here to make sure things run smoothly and responsibly. If you have any questions or need help accessing a policy, please get in touch.
